Composer’s Forum at USA International Harp Competition

“Sailing on Starlight” (2014) will receive its American premiere by students of Ruth Inglefield during the USA International Harp Competition’s Composer’s Forum in Bloomington, Indiana.  This work, originally commissioned for Caroline Cole, was recognized as a Semi-Finalist in this year’s USA IHC Composition Competition.

Performance to be held in Auer Hall at Indiana University Jacobs School of Music.

Einstein Rings – World Premiere with Case Symphonic Winds

Einstein Rings, a new work for symphonic wind ensemble, receives its world première by the Case Symphonic Winds under the baton of Dr. Gary M. Ciepluch.

Inspired by the concepts of Dark Matter and Gravitational Lensing, this work will be played by a wonderful ensemble made of music majors, physicists, engineers, pre-med students, and more.

New Icelandic Folksongs at Alice Tully Hall

Renowned baritone and member of New York Polyphony, Christopher Dylan Herbert will perform “Sál mín svífur burt,” from Fein’s song cycle New Icelandic Folksongs (Op. 9, Lyrics by Thorvaldur David Kristjánsson), with pianist Will Kelley.

The performance takes place as part of the Juilliard Vocal Arts Department’s ongoing “Wednesdays at One” series.  These one-hour grab-bag recitals take place at Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall, and are free and open to the public.

Deborah – Musica Sacra at Lincoln Center

Continuing its commitment to new choral music, Musica Sacra’s final concert pairs Mozart’s Solemn Vespers, K. 339 with a newly commissioned work by American composer Evan Fein: Deborah, an oratorio exploring the Biblical character drawn from the Book of Judges. The performance and commission are made possible by the Tikkun Olam Foundation, Inc.

Adrianna Mateo Quintet at The Metropolitan Museum of Art

Celebrated violinist and cross-genre artist Adrianna Mateo and members of the Adrianna Mateo Quintet perform classics new and old at The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Balcony Bar, including works by Bartók, Bruno Mars, Molly Joyce, and “The Violist’s Tale” from Evan Fein’s String Quartet No. 1.
