Ensemble-in-Process: A 21st Century Salon

  • 10 Bleecker Street New York, NY, 10012 United States (map)

For Ensemble in Process’s next performance, we plan to update the 19th century salon concert for the 21st century. Composer Alex Baxter has instituted a series of “home concerts”, called ELECTROACOUSTICA. The focus is on performances of music combining acoustic instruments, electronic sounds and video in an intimate, close-up performance space.

We will present works by Robert Honstein, Meredith Monk, Randall Woolf, Evan Fein, Katherine Balch, Missy Mazzoli, Tessa Brinckman, Alex Baxter and Brian Mark. These pieces use a wide range of acoustic, electronic and video resources to illustrate and evoke poetry, society, space voyage and revolution.

At the end of the program, Alex Baxter will join our musicians in a group improvisation, using vast and colorful collection of vintage and custom synthesizers.

NOTE:  This is a free program, as we have a 25 seat limit.
