Musica Sacra Presents the World Premiere of Evan Fein’s “Deborah”

Continuing its commitment to new choral music, Musica Sacra’s final concerts pairs Mozart’s Solemn Vespers, K. 339, with a newly commisioned work by American composer, Evan Fein: Deborah, an oratorio exploring the biblical character drawn from the Book of Judges.  Watch video here

Fein Addresses Incoming Students at Juilliard Convocation

Take Root–Imagine the Possibilities was the theme of orientation 2012, and some 220 new students put down roots at Juilliard during the proceedings. Orientation ran from August 26 through September 5; this annual rite of passage included the serious (placement exams), the semi-serious (learning about programs like Mentoring and Educational Outreach), and the fun (excursions to Chinatown, the Union Square Farmer’s Market, and other New York City locations). Pour sa troisième création mondiale l’Opéra de poche, monte l’histoire d’une petite ville du Sud des États Unis, envoûtée par l’apparition de sept femmes plus laides l’une que l’autre. Winner of Cleveland Int’l Piano Competition Youth Event

The Cleveland Indians’ home season will begin this year with a musical home run.  Rather than a pop singer, the team has invited Arianna Körting, first-prize winner of the 2012 Cleveland International Piano Competition Young Artists Competition, to play the national anthem at its home opener against the Detroit Tigers Friday, April 10.  That’s not all. The version of the anthem she’ll play will come courtesy of Evan Fein, a Cleveland native and a graduate of the Cleveland Institute of Music. – Full article
